Beginning this fall, California State University San Marcos will host a series of open forums for the general public entitled “Fresh Perspectives on California's Water Future.” On three separate evenings--a month apart--a panel of experts will present unique insights into the psychology, politics, and economics affecting our water future.  With ample time for audience interaction, these sessions explore shifting power coalitions in water politics, future water costs and alternative ways to finance infrastructure and how deep seated attitudes often limit viable alternatives in water development and conservation.  Each program is open to the general public, parking is provided, and free of charge.  Light refreshments will also be served in the Student Union Ballroom on campus.

The first program in the Series is titled “The Psychology of Water” (Wednesday, September 9, 2015; 6:30 – 8:30 pm).  This topic will focus on what science tells us about which conservation strategies work and which ones don’t as planners seek more efficient uses of water.  Examples of how cultural attitudes can be significant barriers for California's water future.
